Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

2025-2026 Schedule

Registration for 2025-2026 Year

Kindergarten students may partcipate in CGS or Gr. K Faith Formation on Wednesday evenings.

What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd?

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, or CGS, provides formation for children in an intentionally curated “Atrium,” where the child explores their own personal relationship with Jesus through lessons, hands-on play, and prayer. Currently, our pastorate has a Level I atrium.

Sessions are held once per week and last around 90 minutes.

Who can sign up?

Currently, our pastorate has a Level I atrium for 3-6 year old children. Children should be potty-trained to participate. Registration will open later this summer.

CGS also offers Level II (ages 6-9) and Level III (ages 9-12) atriums, which we are discerning.

Who can lead a CGS class?

We are in need of catechists and helpers to help bring CGS to more children! Catechists attend special training in order to instruct CGS sessions. We currently have three trained Catechists in our pastorate: Briana Mueller, Kourtney Denne, and Lily Honnerman. Training options can be limited, so we are very fortunate to have upcoming training nearby and over a weekend! The cost of training would be covered.

Upcoming training dates in Brookings, SD for Level I Part A (Level I Part B will be offered in Fall 2026)

  • September 12-14, 2025
  • October 3-5, 2025

Helpers are present in the atrium to guide children to different activities, engage in one-on-one discussion, and assist with anything else needed. No specific training is needed.
