Preparation and first reception of the Sacraments Reconciliation and Eucharist take place for children in second grade. All children preparing for these Sacraments must first have received the Sacrament of Baptism.
Youth older than Gr. 2 in need of First Penance and First Communion will participate in a special sacrament class. Adults in need of Holy Communion will participate in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. Classes are typically held during the evening, once per week, from September - April. To register for class or request more information, contact the Faith Formation office.
Homebound Communion
Mitchell Catholic Parishes distribute communion to the homebound, including those in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, Avera Queen of Peace hospital, and individual homes. Communion is distributed as frequently as weekly to monthly. To request communion to be delivered to yourself or a loved one, please contact either parish office.
To volunteer as a Eucharistic Minister who distributes Holy Communion to the homebound, please contact either parish office. You will be trained on how to properly care for and distribute the Eucharist. You will also be required to complete a background check and brief safety training.
